PocketOwl for macOS
Privacy Policy
PocketOwl is a file-transfer utility for macOS. It lets you move files between folders on your Mac and local folders, SMB network shares, or SSH/SFTP servers that you choose and configure. This policy explains how PocketOwl handles information.
Who we are
PocketOwl is provided by Tnisoft, operated by Andi Oliver Ion PFA in Romania. For privacy questions, contact contact@tnisoft.ro.
What Tnisoft does not collect
PocketOwl does not require a Tnisoft account and does not send your files, credentials, server details, file listings, or app usage to Tnisoft. The app contains no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. Tnisoft does not sell or share information from the app because Tnisoft does not receive it.
Information stored on your Mac
PocketOwl stores the information it needs to provide its features locally on your Mac. Depending on how you configure the app, this may include:
- Station names and types, server addresses and ports, usernames, folder or remote paths, pinned SSH server public keys, and display, sorting, and automatic-mount preferences.
- Security-scoped bookmarks that preserve access to folders, files, and private keys you selected through macOS.
- Pocket item references and cached file copies created when you move files from a station into the pocket.
- Cached station listings such as file names, sizes, folder status, and modification dates.
Passwords and private-key passphrases are stored in macOS Keychain. PocketOwl does not copy a selected SSH private key into its own data; it stores permission to read the file from the location you selected.
Direct connections and file transfers
PocketOwl connects directly from your Mac to the local folder, network share, or SSH/SFTP server you configure. Tnisoft does not operate a proxy, relay, synchronization service, or storage service for these transfers and cannot see or recover their contents.
When you connect or transfer files, the destination system receives the technical and authentication information needed to complete your request. A server or hosting provider may keep its own connection, security, or activity logs under the policies of that system. You are responsible for using destinations and credentials that you are authorized to access.
Security
PocketOwl uses macOS App Sandbox and system file-selection controls. SSH/SFTP connections use encrypted transport and require a pinned SSH server host key; a changed key is rejected. SMB authentication is handled through macOS networking services. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so you should also secure the Mac and destination systems you use.
Retention and deletion
PocketOwl keeps local settings until you change them or remove the app's data. Removing a station removes its saved password or passphrase from PocketOwl's Keychain entry. Removing a pocket item or completing its upload removes any app-created cached copy associated with that item. Original files remain in their original locations unless you explicitly delete them using PocketOwl or another application.
macOS may retain Keychain items independently of ordinary app files. You can review or remove them with the system's password or Keychain management tools.
Apple services
Apple distributes PocketOwl and may process information under its own privacy policy. Tnisoft does not receive personal information merely because you download PocketOwl from the Mac App Store.
Website information
When you visit pocketowl.tnisoft.ro, normal server logs may record technical request information such as an IP address, browser details, requested pages, and timestamps for security, reliability, and maintenance. This site does not use advertising or analytics trackers.
Children's privacy
PocketOwl is a general file-management utility and is not directed to children. Tnisoft does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone through the app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if PocketOwl or our legal obligations change. The updated date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last revised.
